THE Sharjah Police has launched a two-week awareness campaign to promote the use of seat belts across the emirate.
Called ‘Hezamak Amanak’ (Your belt, your safety), the new campaign will have the authorities distribute brochures, in several languages, reminding motorists to fasten their seat belts, said Colonel Saud Al Shaibah, director of awareness department at the Sharjah traffic and patrol department.
Awareness messages, focusing on the importance of buckling up, will also be published on different social media platforms during the initiative’s two-week run, Al Shaibah said on the police’s official Instagram page.
He reiterated that drivers who fail to fasten their seat belts are fined AED400 and four black points while a AED400 fine applies to passengers, according to the law. (JL)
