CRAVING for an authentic taste of the finest Filipino cuisine back home? Then, worry no more as beloved Filipino restaurant Pancake House brings here in the United Arab Emirates some of the all-time favorite Pinoy meals and desserts that will further whet one’s appetite in this season of giving—and binge eating.

For the first time ever, Pancake House-Burjuman offers Beef Kaldereta, creamy yet cheesy in taste, as well as Beef Kare-Kare, a popular Filipino stew with a rich and thick peanut sauce paired with sweet bagoong and perfectly blanched veggies.

Tokwa’t Baka, a famous dish of fried tofu and deeply fried beef, serves as a perfect appetizer much like Lumpiang Toge, a delicious set of vegetable spring rolls filled with bean sprouts and carrots.

Not to be left out is Pancake House’s version of Sisig, a popular Filipino dish, which can come either in beef or chicken. Of course, Pancake House customers can balance it out with Chopsuey, a colorful blend of stir-fried vegetables made tastier with chicken strips and quail eggs.

There’s also Pancit Palabok, a delicious Filipino noodle dish topped with shrimp gravy, shrimp, smoked fish flakes and eggs, which can serve as a suitable alternative if you want to cut down your carbs.

Those with sweet tooth has another reason to smile as Pancake House introduces its “Holiday Pancakes” in celebration of Christmas season—Pinoy style.

Bibingka Pancakes, filled with salted egg and made sweeter muscovado sugar and freshly grated coconut strips, will surely become an instant favorite among Pinoys as well as Ube Cheese Pancakes, which can be another big hit even for other nationalities.

For those who intend to eat with their families and even in groups, Pancake House also has their set meals—Piyesta Package—which is named after five popular Philippine heroes such as “The Rizal,” “The Bonifacio,” The Del Pilar,” “The Luna,” and “The Lapu-Lapu.”

Asked what she likes the most about their newest menu, Rodriguez admits: “Standout pa rin ‘yung Kare-Kare. Andu’n kasi talaga ‘yung peanut butter sauce na hindi galing sa bote kundi sa purong mani. Tsaka ‘yung Beef Sisig na rin.”
