THE Maranao Community (MARCOM) here in the UAE has kicked off, recently, the PNB Cup 2018,dubbed as the Maranao Winter League.
Organizers and MARCOM members have started the games last November 9, at Al Shaab Sports Complex in Sharjah, UAE.
The said tournament is an exclusive Maranao-only league with six teams vying for the top, represented by all the members coming from different emirates.
The organizing team, led by concurrent MARCOM President Shaharullah Ali Tahir, who is also the Commissioner of the league, said, “This initiative is for our tribe only to gain more camaraderie among the members and promote unity through the physical sports and, after this, we will embark again to the next league, which is open to all Filipino Muslim expatriates here.”
Last Friday the league concluded its Semi Finals with four teams on the remaining Magic 4. This Friday, January 4, Team Malangas will fight against Team Kampilan for the championship while the Team Barracuda will slug it out with Team Sarimanok for the 3rd place.
The league is being sponsored by the Philippine National Bank (PNB), led by its GCC Head Manager Salimar Salomabao, with minor sponsor Robinsons Land, Tabeer Tourism and LBC, and managed by the CBL Group.
