Kapampangan singer Ryan M. Alvarez was the 2014 grand champion in “Star Ka Na in the UAE,” a talent search organized then under the mentorship of renowned musician and composer Vehnee Saturno.
“My first impression of UAE particularly Dubai is it’s a safe place. There are so many wonderful places to go to. It could help you to earn enough to support your loved ones back home. These things never changed. Crime rate is low and lots of promising jobs are there but, of course, with dedication, hard work and perseverance you will succeed in life being here. Now, there are more amazing places to go to that you will surely enjoy,” Ryan started.
“I worked in one of the Telecom companies in UAE, one of the supplier and distributor of all kinds of Mobile Phones such as iPhone, Samsung, Blackberry, accessories as well. Then, I worked as Head Teller cum Branch Accountant. I came to Middle East last November 11, 2005, so it has been 11 years,” he continued.
He now works in Belhoul European Hospital, which was established in 1996 as the first day care health facility in the UAE. It currently provides comprehensive medical facilities through its 22 outpatient clinics.
“One of the most exciting projects that I was involved with was when I was invited by Buhay Tsuper, a Dubai-based organization headed by its president Pion Kotico to perform and entertain before the distressed domestic helpers in POLO-OWWA Dubai. It was an exciting and heartwarming experience. Through my talent in singing, I managed to entertain them or made them happy and forget all their worries and sad stories,” Ryan said.
He was born on March 18, 1984, in Angeles City. His father, Jaime Alvarez, is a businessman who worked as an OFW in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, while his mom, Remedios, is also a businesswoman. He has two siblings, namely: Laarni, an Abu Dhabi-based accounting staff, and Rickyner, a criminology student in Holy Angel University.
“My family is the reason why I have to work hard and pursue all our dreams,” he said.
He graduated at Manibaug Paralaya Elementary School in 1997 and took his high school and college from Holy Angel University. He obtained a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Major in Financial Management Accounting.
“I am happily married to Jessah Belle for six years. My wife earned her degree in Industrial Engineering in the University of San Carlos. She has been living in Dubai for ten years and she works in the accounts department of a UK B2B (Business to Business) hotel booking website. I have one daughter her name is Jesryn Lourisse, a five-year-old girl who is enrolled in Elite English School in Dubai,” he added.
Passion in singing
“Passion in singing and in my own little way I have joined some of the concerts to raised money for one Filipino guy who was sick and hospitalized in Dubai and a child with cancer that we’re both needs financial support. My late grandmother (Lola Celia) inspired me to do this kind of projects as she was also diagnosed with cancer and died last 2010. When she got sick and suffered this illness I wasn’t there for her at all because I am already working in Dubai and there was no chance for me to fly back to Philippines due to work issues. I may not change the burden they are carrying through singing at least I can give a smile to them,” he continued.
The past years saw him receiving various awards and recognitions. He took major spots various talent competitions in Dubai.
