Duterte supporters: Thumbs-up on Inday Sara as next president Others think that she needs more experience

DUBAI – Some supporters of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte in the UAE have expressed agreement to Duterte’s pronouncement that he sees his daughter, Davao Mayor ‘Inday Sara’ Duterte-Carpio as his successor and none other.

“I couldn’t find any other better candidate than Sara to become the next president,” he said in a statement.

Duterte described her daughter as a strong woman and, probably, not a bigot.

Kabayan Weekly spoke with some ‘Duterte die-hard supporters’ or DDS regarding his statement.

“Kung wala na siyang [Duterte] makitang pwedeng ipagkatiwala yung posisyon niya, bakit hindi? Qualified naman siya [Sara] at mahaba-haba naman ang experience niya sa politics,” OFW Global Movement for Empowerment-Dubai Chapter President George Requerme said.

Requerme, 49, however, said that it is better for Sara to run for senator first in the 2019 elections.

“Pwede siya, pero [maganda kung tatakbo siya] sa 2019 para mas makilala siya.

“Kung wala nang ibang tao na pwedeng pagpasahan ng power, may tiwala naman kami [mga miembro ng OFW Global Movement for Empowerment] sa anak [ni Duterte],” he added.

If Sara were to run and win the presidential elections in 2022, Requerme said that she should continue the “all-out” war on drugs of his dad and combat criminality, as well.

“Alam nating hindi kaya ni Duterte matapos ang problema sa droga ng anim na taon. Marami pang problema sa Pilipinas gaya ng korapsyon,” he added.

He said that if the position is transferred to other political party, Duterte’s projects might be jeopardized.

Requerme wishes though that Sara be unlike his father, who is famous for uttering obscene words.

“Si Sara naman hindi palamura, pero matapang naman,” he said.

In 2011, Sara punched a court sheriff who refused to delay the demolition of a property despite her plea.

For his part, Aki Atacador, international execom and head of ‘Mula sa Masa DU30 Movement-Dubai Chapter’ thought that Sara is not yet ready for the position, as she needs more experiences.

“Ultimo ngang si PRRD [President Rodrigo Roa Duterte] may mga bagay na hindi niya kontrolado, samantalang mas mahaba yung experience niya na almost 20 years na ay nahihirapan pa din,” he said.

Atacador also said that he may be a supporter, but he’s not convinced by Duterte’s suggestion as Sara to be his successor.

He said that if it’s for the future of the Philippines, Filipinos have to consider federalism, which is also the campaign of Mula sa Masa DU30 Movement-Dubai Chapter.
