ABU DHABI — A total of 278 Filipino blood donors came to participate in the blood donation drive, dubbed as “One Moment, One Drop, One Life,” launched annually by the Alpha Phi Omega Emarat 121 Alumni Association (APO-Emarat 121), held recently, at the Khalidiya Blood Bank in Abu Dhabi.
The event was in partnership with the Samahan ng mga OFW sa UAE (SOUAE), in cooperation with the Philippine Embassy and Bayanihan Council.
Of the number, 201 donors were approved while 25 were deferred, althogh this was considered as one of the largest blood donation campaigns with greater participation by Filipino community in Abu Dhabi, this year.
The purpose is to ensure adequate amount of blood available at the Abu Dhabi blood bank in support to the medical sector of the UAE government and in fulfillment of the groups’ mission in the area of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The day’s undertaking was graced by Yoko Ramos-Vingno, spouse of the Philippine Ambassador to the UAE and chairwoman of the Philippine Ladies Circle in Abu Dhabi. She was accompanied by Bayanihan Council chairman Engr. Jeffrey Uy, along with APO leaders Marvin Espiritu and Garry Burnopp and SOUAE President Jennifer Paredes, among other leaders.
