DUBAI – The Dubai Police is urging residents of Dubai to avail of the 50 percent discount on traffic fines incurred from 2016 or earlier before the year 2017 ends.
“Dubai traffic fines occurring in 2016 or before are now subject to 50 percent discount if paid by the end of 2017. The 50 percent reduction in fines does not cover violations committed in 2017,” Brig. Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of Traffic Department at Dubai Police, was quoted as saying by gulfnews.com.
The initiative has started since July 1, and Al Mazroui said that residents should take advantage of this offer.
Residents with 2016 traffic fines can pay until the end of December.
“Dubai Police will offer various means to facilitate the payment of fine, through the traffic department and all police and car registration centers, as well as, kiosks in all commercial center,” he added.
For those who don’t have time to pay, they can pay online, through UAE bank sites and RTA centers, where the 50 percent discount will be automatically activated.
This initiative was issued by Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice-president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, on the occasion of the Year of Giving.
